First of all I would like to apologize for writing all of this in English, but it is because I am writing this from the United States where I live. Like you, I share your passion for the pensive and intriguing philospher known as Epicureus. I was thorouhly delighted one night as I stayed up late scanning the internet for websites about Epicureus and i came across yours. I have to say that I don't agree with you however, because I think hope would have been a lie for Epicureus. I think he would have thought that hope, in the end, is another way to create disillusions, because you expect to have things you will never have. So in the end it's another form of desire. Instead I believe that hope is better off known as faith. In conclusion I think your point of view will be more related with agnosticism, because with your words you say that you don't know if believe in hope or not.
